The Meters

The Meters - Look ka-py-py and Funky (1974)
Footage of this band is quite hard to find, perhaps the group name is a common English word, try googling funk!! Most VHS/DVD footage is long deleted.

From New Orleans, Art Neville (keyboards)Leo Nocentelli (guitar), George Porter (Bass), origionally known as the Hawkettes. Initialy hired as a backing band, they toured and/or recorded with Fats Domino, Lee Dorsey, and Art's Brother Aaron Neville (both later forming the Neville Brothers.) In 1969 they began recording in their own wright, scoring tracks like 'Sophisicated Cissy' and 'Sissy Srut' for Josie label. In 1970 the group switched to Reprise, moving in the direction of rock. - Ralph Tee
