Abbey Lincoln - Spread The Word (Spread The Gospel) 1956Taken from the film The Girl Can't Help It along with other popular R&B groups of the time; The Treniers, The Platters, Little Richard & Fats Domino in fine colour and sound. I can see why the church was against gospel singers singing pop, also note the great treatment of back-light on the introduction.
